Hi, I’m Natsumi Takagi — a Tokyo-born, LA-based filmmaker.
I was a silver medalist at the US Sumo Open, the largest sumo competition outside of Japan. At 5'5" and lightweight, I stepped into the ring with opponents twice my size — and discovered that sumo is less about weight, and more about will.
 
This project is produced with my husband, James Taku Leung, an actor and writer who truly loves sumo and has served as a referee for over 15 years.
Inspired by my journey and his deep connection to the sport, we’ve teamed up to bring our shared experience to life through SUMO 101.
